Ever since I received my Sony VW10HT projector various people told me that the experience would not be complete until I provided it with a High Definition Television (HDTV) signal. While I was curious about this, because I was told that HDTV looks even better than DVD's on the VW10HT, I balked at the idea. I didn't have a clear line of sight to any of the various television satellites from the roof of my house. So HDTV became a "back burner" project in the RAF household.
During the summer of 2001 I was made aware of the possibility of installing my satellite dishes on a pole located on my property, but away from the roof. After running a few site (and sight) tests I discovered that there was, in fact, a way to install the necessary satellite dishes on a pole located about 35 feet from my house. The equipment would be sheltered on my property while offering a clear line of sight to the three satellites (61.5, 110 and 119) of the DISH network with above average signal strength acquisition. So, armed with this new information and a renewed enthusiasm to finally provide an HDTV source for my Home Theater, I undertook the project.
What follows is pictorial documentation of the stages of this project as well as some glimpses of the final results. Let's begin the journey.
